DON'T PUT ONE HOLIDAY DECORATION AWAY Until We Talk About Labels!

Labeling boxes is a very underrated thing. But honestly, when you're looking for something, having a nice clear label can make a world of difference when you're trying to stay organized because it helps you find what you need, when you need it.

So in this blog, I want to talk about a holiday label template I created that you can find in my downloadable Christmas Planner. Be sure to go get it before you start putting your holiday decorations away! It will really make a world of difference when you start decorating for the holidays next year!

Now the label template I created in my downloadable Christmas planner looks like this.

Here's something to think about when storing your holiday decorations. Many of us store our holiday decorations in a location like our garage, often times up high on a shelf. Using a tiny label on your storage box is hard to see clearly and might create the need for you to have to climb up a ladder to see what's in that box. With a larger label template like the one in my Christmas Planner, you will be able to see it very clearly from standing on the ground.

I've created both a full-size and a half-size label in my Christmas Planner

Larger labels will help you find what you need a lot faster. One organizing tip I always recommend for storing your holiday decorations is to store (and clearly label) your holiday decor in bins according to the room they'll be set up in (i.e. all living room decor together in 1or 2 bins, all kitchen decor together in 1 or 2 bins, etc.). That way when it comes time to decorate next year, you'll be able to easily locate which decorations belong in which rooms. It can also help you easily set up your decorations one room at a time when time is tight and you're unable to decorate the whole house in just one go. So with that in mind, on the top of the label template I designed is a line to write down what room the decorations belong in. Then, I also included extra labeling lines so you can list exactly which decorations are in that box.

Next, you'll want to grab some sheet protectors and some clear shipping tape. Simply attach the sheet protectors to the side of your storage bin with the shipping tape. Using sheet protectors are really helpful because labels can get dirty and damaged over time, especially when stored in basements, attics, or garages. They not only keep your labels protected from rips and tears, but they also can help keep them clean and smudge free. Simply slide your labels into plastic sheet protectors then attach them to your bins. It'll keep your label neat and clean (and protected) throughout the year.

Sheet protectors will help keep your labels clean and free from damage.

Sheet protectors also make it super simple to switch your labels out should you decide to reorganize or change your decorating style in the future. If you need to change up what's in your storage box, simply pull the old label out, print a new labeling template, and pop it back in that page protector. Easy peasy.
